Tupendane delegation with Vice President Bukenya

Tupendane AfriCana began as a mission with a call from God to Southland Church leaders when God opened a door for Ray Duerksen and Len Neufeld to meet a number of Ugandan leaders at a cultural transformation conference in Argentina (2006).

On a bus trip to tour a prison, Ray found himself seated next to Mr. Alex Mitala. Mr. Mitala, President of Back to the Bible Truth Ministries and President of a denomination of 18,000 churches, described for Ray, the challenges they were facing.

Ray & Len then met with Mr. Mitala and Mrs. Allen Kagina, Commissioner General for the Uganda Revenue Authority, to explore the possibility of assisting them.

Mrs. Kagina & Mr. Mitala invited Ray & Len to visit Uganda on an exploratory trip.

A delegation of seven people was selected, and this team travelled to Uganda in 2007 to inspect the work and meet with Ugandan leaders, including the country's Vice President, Dr. Gilbert Bukenya. The delegation witnessed firsthand the work being done and the challenges being faced. Upon return, a charitable organization was formed, Tupendane AfriCana.
